In response to numerous resident complaints about speeding, aggressive driving, and other unsafe driving behaviors, a multi-agency traffic enforcement operation was conducted along State Route 69 near Sundog Ranch Road with coordination through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) on Saturday June 13th, 2026. The operation included officers from the Prescott Valley Police Department, Prescott Police Department, Chino Valley Police Department, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

During the operation, officers made 101 traffic stops and arrested 11 drivers on various driving-related charges, including four impaired-driving arrests.

One driver was stopped for traveling 75 mph in a 45 mph zone and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. During a vehicle inventory conducted before the vehicle was towed, officers located 23 fentanyl pills, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Another driver was arrested after being observed traveling more than 100 mph on the highway, posing a serious risk to other drivers.

The operation also resulted in:

  • 54 speeding citations
  • 4 excessive-speed citations (more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit)
  • 4 impaired-driving arrests

Among drivers arrested for alcohol-related DUI offenses, the average blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.240 which is three times Arizona’s legal limit of 0.08.

The operation was part of an ongoing effort to address traffic safety concerns raised by community members and to reduce dangerous driving behaviors on local roadways. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted speed limits, make safe driving choices, and never drive while impaired.
