Chino Valley Firefighters Contain Lightning-Caused Fire

On June 14, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA), along with the Prescott Fire Department, responded to a reported vegetation fire in the area of Road 6 North in Chino Valley. Upon arrival, crews discovered a large dead cottonwood tree actively burning, believed to have been ignited by a lightning strike. The fire had also begun to spread into surrounding vegetation, including nearby piles of additional dead trees.
