Phoenix Police Seek Public Input on New Canine Policy

The Phoenix Police Department is seeking public feedback on a new “Canine” policy. Once finalized, this policy will guide officers assigned to work with canines across the department. The policy includes the following: Procedures for recordkeeping, handler selections and retirements of canines Standards for canine care, equipment and home/work environments. Guidelines for training, deployment and documentation pertaining to all Department use of canines. Direction for canines critically injured in the line of duty.
