Starting in October 2021, customers with area codes (4 8 0), (5 2 0), and (9 2 8) will need to dial the full 10-digit phone number (full number + area code) in order to make a local call. Why the Change? On July 16, 2020, the Federal Communications Commission approved the designation of 988 as the 3-digit abbreviated dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
